Michael P. Swimelar is a Principal and founding member of Swimelar CPA, PC. His firm is located in Frisco, TX in Frisco Square. He is a leader in the firm’s small and medium sized business accounting, tax, and performance planning and improvement practice.
Mr. Swimelar has extensive experience in various capacities with accounting, tax, and management information process improvement, designing and cleaning up charts of account and general ledgers to meet reporting and value based management needs. He has developed a particular expertise with utilizing QuickBooks and related products, and projects aimed at creating owner value and sustainable competitive advantage for businesses.
His personal philosophy is that while value creation through constantly improving customer insight is the overriding business goal that best meets the needs of all stakeholders, it is the accountable, measurable, and aligned initiatives in effect throughout the organization that really propel a company forward and create immense wealth and satisfaction for its owners, employees, and communities. He believes it is critical that business leaders have the tools necessary to focus on and manage to real drivers of value.
He will often ask: How do you know if you had a good year, a good month, a good week, how was yesterday, how are we doing today? How do you measure that?
Mr. Swimelar is an expert in accounting, tax, value creation techniques, cash flow, enterprise and initiative valuation, and M&A. He has also taught value based management techniques to executives and employees at various companies.
Mr. Swimelar has implemented financial processes and capital and operating improvement programs at two large telecoms and several smaller businesses. While having full P&L responsibility at a communications company, he implemented initiatives nearly tripling operating profits in less than two years.
Prior to his association with Swimelar CPA, PC, Mr. Swimelar was Senior VP/CFO of Common Knowledge Research services where he helped pioneer profitable online research business models. He has also held senior strategic and financial positions at Frontier Communications and Verizon and was a Manager with Ernst & Young for approximately seven years.
Mr. Swimelar is a licensed CPA in both Texas and Washington State and received his BA in Business with a concentration in Accounting from the University of Washington and his MBA in Corporate Finance from the University of Dallas.
